1975 Ford Transit MK1 Ambulance
This is our current vehicle - a 1975 Ford Transit mk1 Ambulance, it has a Wadham Stringer body built on the rear, it is powered by a Ford V4 Essex engine with a 4 speed gearbox.
Originally purchased by the Ministry of Defence in 1975 it was based at an Ordnance Factory near Puriton in Somerset, originally had a crew of 3 persons - fireman who was the driver / a doctor and a nurse. It was retired from service and left the MOD in April 2002 with a recorded mileage of just over 10300 miles. It was then purchased from auction by a TV / Film company and then made appearances in The Royal, Heartbeat, Inspector George Gently and is also the vehicle from the film "The Bank Job" with Jason Statham. After being sold on it was purchased and used for vintage / classic car shows in the Sunderland area and purchased by ourselves in Nov 2019. The rear of the vehicle we have kept as original as possible and the vehicle you will see at quite a few of the Shows and Rallies around Central Scotland - please come say Hi if you see us!!!!!!
